Episode 13: Fraud - Hitting you where it hurts!

Mention the word fraud and people's eyes typically glaze over. The reasons for this vary from not understanding what fraud really is, to believing it's a "victimless" crime to simply thinking fraud is "boring" when compared to the often "sexier"; higher profile crimes such as drugs, extortion or murder. Unfortunately, the reality is frauds have arguably more of an impact on people's everyday lives than do the more serious crimes.  Whether it is phishing emails, phone calls from so called tax collectors or letters claiming someone needs your help to recover millions of dollars in some far off land; it seems these days, there's nothing fraudsters won't do to get you to part with your money or your information.  In this episode; Luciano Cedrone and Brian Claman talk to former RCMP fraud investigator John Mecher about the devastating consequences fraud can have on people and business and how you can go about protecting yourself from becoming another statistic in this ever changing criminal activity.
